Discrimination of Queer and Trans Women

There has been a violent distaste of trans and queer women within and from the cishet community of women. Notice how I use the word community, the word itself is supposed to bring a sense of belonging but more often than not we have seen cishet women misuse their privilege (however little you may think of it) to channelize hate towards these particular brands of women.

Trans women do not become women. They have always felt that they were born in the wrong body. And that is okay. They are beautiful and strong for honing that identity, owning it and choosing to move forward with major surgeries like the gender affirmation surgery if they wish to do so.

Cis women do not get to dictate what a woman gets to be or what she doesn’t. How do you justify the same when cishet men do it? It is not fair. Period.

Queer women are shamed for not having the same sexual appetite, or not sharing the same fantasies, likes and dislikes as cishet women. They are badgered and have been asked not to sexualize cishet women. Queer women are not coming after you. We never make the same assumptions about you as you do us. We don’t assume everyone in a crop top, high top Jordans and varsity jacket is a basic cishet girl, so why do you question the pierced, short hair woman wearing cuffed jeans?

This sort of divide allows us as women, as genderfluid people who look like the traditional woman, to be hurt. It leaves us open to distaste from the patriarchy.

Trans women are women. Queer women are women.
